THE SCOTT RIVER
Scott River is situated on the south west corner of Western Australia about 15km north east of the town of Augusta and 45km from the renowned Margaret River wine region. Here the climate is temperate, with cooling, clean breezes coming straight off the Southern Ocean. In fact the salt from the sea on these breezes gives the pastures a taste that enhances the flavour of the beef.
The D’Entrecasteaux National Park, covering an area of 3273ha, borders the Dunnet beef property. The national park is home to a large range of wildflowers and fauna including western grey kangaroos, black swans, cormorants, massed geese, herons, emus and parrots. It is enjoyed by bushwalkers who are not deterred by some rough walking!
The Dunnet’s Scott River property is only 2km from the coast, notably Black Point, and the clean air and pristine environment greatly enhance the health of the cattle.
Black Point itself is a remote internationally recognised surfing location which is always ‘running’ when the west coast breaks are on-shore.
